We transform lives through education.
Access to school is not the same as access to quality education. PEAS USA works to make sure every child has both.
We support more than 250,000 students each year across Zambia, Uganda, and Ghana by building and running great schools and helping governments strengthen public education systems.
Designed and delivered by Africans, our award-winning approach helps students from underserved communities learn more, stay in school longer, and build the skills they need to thrive.
Because our goal is bigger than the schools we operate, we work alongside governments to adapt and scale what works, extending our impact far beyond our own network.
The results speak for themselves. In Zambia, our most recent Grade 7 students achieved a 98 percent pass rate, compared to the district average of 71 percent.

Education is Life Changing
Today’s young people will shape the future — especially in Africa, home to the world’s fastest-growing youth population.
By 2035, more sub-Saharan Africans will reach working age than in the rest of the world combined. Yet only one in three currently complete secondary school, and even fewer are girls.
Quality education opens doors to higher incomes, healthier lives, greater opportunity, and stronger communities. Educated girls are less likely to marry early or face violence and more likely to raise healthy, educated children.
The coming decade will be a pivotal moment for Africa’s youth. This generation will face climate change, conflict, and poverty. Access to quality education is vital to equip them to lead, innovate, and build just, resilient societies.

We believe strong evidence is essential to understanding what works and how education can improve. Independent evaluations consistently show that PEAS students come from more disadvantaged backgrounds yet make faster learning progress than their peers. Our students, particularly girls, leave school with greater confidence, stronger life skills, and better opportunities for the future. We achieve these outcomes while operating at a lower cost than comparable schools.
One of the strongest pieces of evidence comes from a randomized controlled trial (RCT) conducted by the American Institutes for Research as part of a 35-school expansion in Zambia. Fourteen months after children enrolled in school for the first time, the evaluation found statistically significant improvements in enrollment, literacy, and numeracy outcomes compared with students in control schools.
